Laufen presents its own fittings for the complete bathroom suite

The Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen now also distributes water taps, in the process rounding off its portfolio as a complete supplier for the bathroom. This now allows bathrooms to be completed in a continuous design language since the company's product range not only includes bathroom ceramics and taps, but also bathroom furniture and accessories as well as bath tubs and showers.

Similor AG is a traditional Swiss company whose origins date back to 1854. Similor AG exclusively manufactures LAUFEN-brand taps and associated fittings for wash basins, bidets, bath tubs and showers that are distributed internationally. Its products include taps whose aesthetic properties appeal to and cover every user sector, as well as architectural taps and high-quality self-closing taps for the public sector.

The company works closely with various national and international designers in developing its new tap and associated fitting ranges. For example, the Swiss designers Peter Wirz (Design Mimo), Florin Baeriswyl (Design Twinprime) and Jürg Heuberger (Design Cityprime) as well as with the German designer Sven Adolph (Design Cityplus Class).

At the heart of taps manufactured by Similor lies the Ecototal control cartridge. Its hot water and flow limiter – an eco-friendly initiative – serves to reduce water and energy consumption by up to a third. Both Ecototal and Ecototal+ have been awarded the 'Energy' label by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. Appliances that bear this energy label must conform to stringent requirements and criteria.

The history of the company started in 1854 with the establishment by Charles Kugler in Lausanne of a small company for brass products that, in 1863, was the first to manufacture water and gas taps on Swiss soil. Further associated companies were founded – Similor SA in Geneva (1917), Armaturenfabrik Wallisellen AG in Wallisellen (1955) and Sanimatic AG in Geroldswil (1990). As part of a buy and build strategy, Similor successively acquired firstly Kugler Robinetterie SA (1996), then Sanimatic AG (1997) and finally ARWA AG (2003) to become the Swiss market leader in bathroom fixtures. Similor AG has been part of the international Roca Group since 2007, its head office has been in Laufen (Basel-Landschaft Canton, Switzerland) since 2009.
